Lavender
Speckles - 2007
Design &
Custom by Aikarin
Lavender Speckles started off life as a light purple G3 pony. Her
design got carried away with my imagination. ^_^
I had some leftover epoxy clay
that I twisted into horns for her head. They are firmly rooted in
place with wires. Next, I played with rooting lavender fuzzy yarn
to her hooves. Pretty neat, huh?

Lavender
Speckles got a tail next, also made of epoxy clay. It's anchored from
the inside, but no wires were used. It may be a little fragile, so I
recommend this pony for display only.
I painted the tail purple and added some detailing to the end, which is also
sculpted. Next, her "rump" was given several layers of gray
paint, dark to light, dry brushed with a stiff round bristle brush.
This was a necessary step to cover up a slight pinkish stain left by the
original symbol. I was quite impressed with the dapples I've seen in
the model horse hobby, so this was my turn to experiment with them! ^_^
The tail didn't have enough color contrast with the dappled area, so I gave
it a "shadow" on both sides using diluted black paint.

This pony's horns were actually
painted twice. Originally, I had them in pearly ivory shades and
golden stripes. It didn't match the rump & tail at all. So,
they were painted over in medium purple with dark violet shadows and light
purple highlights.
Her eyes are original and her
"hair" is the same fuzzy yarn seen on her feet. The yarn is
rooted from one end, so each hole only has one strand coming out of
it. Otherwise, her mane would be too dense. After rooting, it
was cut into a whimsical layered shape. ^_^

Overall, I liked the way she
turned out. Perhaps I've gotten used to her quirkiness. ^_~ She
looks like some type of forest critter. A variation I would like to
try in the future is a pony with sculpted mane and feathery feet. If
this pony stays on the Virtual Farm long enough, I'm going to repaint her
eyes.
Aikarin's Lavender Speckles is a CUSTOM
PONY, not affiliated with Hasbro, and this design will not be
repeated.
She is signed and dated under one hoof.
