Florabella - Floral Sketch Custom Pony with florescent tinting by Aikarin


[click on picture for enlarged view - warning - huge file!]	Florabella - 2007 Design & Custom by Aikarin Florabella started out as just a collection of random sketches. Whenever I had a free moment, I'd pick up the pigment marker & started doodling. ^_^ Originally, I didn't plan on tinting the flowers & leaves...I wanted to leave the pony black & white. Later, I decided to go for a tri-colored florescent color scheme.
[click on picture for enlarged view - warning - huge file!] Florabella's hair contains 6 stripes of the same width. They are bordered by very thin black stripes. I used replacement nylon hair in neon yellow, pink and green . I love the way this stuff looks...the colors are vibrant & beautiful in real life. The camera just doesn't do it justice! Her tail contains the same colors.
	Florabella's eyes are pink, yellow, and orange. They are very bright and edged in black. Lashes were a pain to paint, but overall, I like how they turned out. The eye were given a thick layer of glossy varnish, so they are very shiny indeed!
[click on picture for enlarged view - warning - huge file!] Florabella's distinctive feet markings are completely unique. Each one was drawn completely freehand with a fine tipped pigment marker. Then, they were tinted with florescent paints! After that dried, a matte varnish top coat was applied. This technique could use some refinement...while brushing the varnish on, some of the black outlines started to fade. I had to redraw a few of them.
[click on picture for enlarged view - warning - huge file!]	Here's her non-display side. She doesn't have a symbol on her rump here. Notice how the designs are all around her legs. It's tough to paint/draw on the inner parts!

I wasn't planning on placing a symbol here, but there were traces of pink left over from the old symbol! I really like her symbol, though. It's a cluster of flowers in yellow, pink and pale orange.
