Like
other gargoyles, Shadow Watcher is kept in place by a chain.
It's custom made out of silver-tone links and jump rings. There
is a lobster clasp at the neck and another one where it connects to
the stand. I suggest leaving the neck clasp in place...it was a
pain trying to get that one fastened since there isn't a lot of room
between the wings and her chin!

Her
monochromatic eyes
were painted with several shades of gray. The paint I used is
acrylic based, but it also has sand-like grains mixed in. I
jazzed it up by adding some more glitter in black, gold, and a touch
of silver! I painted one coat of matte varnish, but I didn't
like the way it looked. It made the pony look very "plasticky".
So, she got another coat of sandy paint!

Shadow
Watcher's big claws were an afterthought. I was playing around
with some sculpting tools and came up with this design.

Shadow
Watcher's stand is actually a wooden hexagonal box with a custom paint
job. The outside matches her textured granite paint and the inside
is a deep burgundy color. I lined the inside with matching
burgundy flocking, so it is very soft! The bottom of the box
is lined with black felt, so it won't scratch your tabletop or
bookshelf.
You can
see a small part of the wire loop on the inside of the lid, but the
lid still fits snugly. The wire
loop is glued into place.
