Polaris - 2006

Polaris is a 1st gen unicorn who was inspired by the originals.  She has a "contrasting mane stripe", solid colored tail, glittery symbol, and astronomical theme.  She was made from a white base pony, which has aged into a slight ivory color over the years.

Initially, I wanted to make the stripe aqua blue, but later changed it to dark purple.

I re-rooted her with a sample of nylon hair from custompony.com, which is similar in texture to original G1 hair.  The color is "Heart Throb", which is a medium pink.  The stripe is vintage dark purple hair from a donor pony.. 

Polaris' symbol is a randomly arranged constellation of magenta glittery stars.  I blended in just a touch of silver glitter for extra sparkle.  The other side is almost a mirror image.  The name Polaris comes from the Latin name for the North Star - "Stella Polaris".  Incidentally, this lovely name received the most votes from readers of my Livejournal!
