Bristow Cardigan
Pattern from with yarn substitution
Finished March 2007
Yarn: 100% superfine alpaca Lavish.  Just under 10 skeins (each one 1.75 oz/109 yds).

Needles: US 3 bamboo DPNs for the seed stitch border, size 7 bamboos for the rest

Other tools: row markers and knit counter

Gauge:'s a little smaller than what's called for.  I knit the 2nd size.

Yes, the gray color is hard to photograph.  It really isn't this fuzzy in real life!
Also, I don't like how baggy the underarms are.  Still, not too shabby for a first sweater!  Alpaca is toasty warm!!  I'm wearing a very thin shirt under this and I'm getting pretty warm.

I bought the Celtic knotwork buttons from Joann's.
The button band is 2 rows wider than called for in the pattern.  I made the button holes too far in, but it's not very noticeable once the cardigan is buttoned.  I used the same alpaca yarn to stitch each button in place, but it's so slick that I'm afraid the knots would come undone.  So, I'm going to re-stitch them in a different type of yarn or maybe more securely.

Heard that alpaca tends to "grow"...hope this sweater doesn't stretch out.  It's about the right size currently.  Just a bit baggy so I can wear something underneath it.
